The last day of classes for Sr. High options, and all other semester-run High School courses is  Tuesday January 21st, 2020.

The majority of Grade 12's will then be focussing on studying and preparation for Diploma and other final exams. Final exams and even Diploma exams may also apply to our Grade 10 and 11 students in cases where they are enrolled in a semester-based class with a final exam.

Our Grade 10 and Grade 11 POD students are expected to attend their four core POD classes (English, Social, Math and Sciences) during exam week (January 22nd to January 30th) because these courses are full-year courses.

For the 7 days of exam week both Grade 10 PODS and both Grade 11 PODS will have their core classes in the mornings (9:13am – 11:50am); this is a flip for students that regularly have their POD courses in the afternoon and is done to accommodate students that travel by bus. If a POD student does have a final exam in a semester 1 course they will be released from class to write their exam at its scheduled time.  A room/location schedule for exam week is located at the bottom of this article. As usual students can certainly see any teacher in the school during FOCUS which is 8:40 – 9:10am.

Although POD students are not required to be at the school in the afternoon during exam week (Jan 22nd  – Jan 30th), we highly suggest staying for the afternoon if you may need extra support or time to work on material in any of the four core classes. To accommodate bus students or any other students who must stay at the school for the entire day the school remains open and will have supervised areas for students to work. This extra time in the afternoon can be an excellent opportunity to get extra support from POD teachers, catch up on missing work, write missed exams or receive any other academic support that is needed. Teachers may also be contacting parents if they have a particular request for a student to stay in the afternoons for extra help.

    • There will also be an opportunity for Grade 11 students, first who are interested,  and second who are recommended by their teachers due to satisfactory academic & behavioural standing, to attend GPRC for exposure to select trades. This is a pilot program that will run for five full days during exam week. Students interested and who are endorsed by their teachers to attend will bring home an information package and parental permission forms. Inquiries can be e-mailed to davidmacpherson@gpcsd.ca

Semester 2 Schedule – January 31st 2020 to June 25th 2020.

Grade 10 and Grade 11 POD students schedules will be flipping for Semester two. This means if your child had their core POD classes in the morning’s in semester one, they will now have them in the afternoons in semester two and vice-versa. This is done to provide equal opportunity to morning and/or afternoon core learning to all students and to ensure students can better access complimentary courses. The classrooms that the POD courses are taught in will remain the same as they were in semester one.

This information will be communicated to your child in detail by their POD teachers in class. However, if you have more questions please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Thank you in advance for supporting your child with their learning!

We hope you have a Blessed Christmas and a relaxing break.
