Student Services Updates!


JANUARY 11TH, 2018

All grades à GPRC is hosting a booth during Sr. High Focus and lunch on Jan. 19, in our common area. This is for general program/college information. Students who have already applied to GPRC will have the opportunity to meet with one of their academic advisors later in the semester when they visit. Alternately, students are invited to contact the academic advisors at any time to make an appointment at the college.

Grade 12s taking Math 30-1 this semester à A student at GPRC is hosting a Math 30-1 study session/diploma prep workshop January 20th at the college for the low, low price of $20. Stop by Student Services for more information.

All students à Timetables will be printed for semester 2 and given out on the last day of classes, Jan. 22nd. Grade 12 students with a block 2 spare or those not here that day will be able to pick them up in the main office during Finals Week.

Graduating students à The Schulich Leadership Scholarship letter of application is due Jan. 22 to Ms. Martin in Student Services. You must be entering a non-medical science/technology related field and your type-written letter must show evidence of at least 2 of the following criteria: Academic excellence, outstanding leadership, financial need. Grade 10 – 12 students fluent in French à Mr. Sevigny is holding the FSL30 challenge exam Jan. 23 & 24. See him in Room 151 for more information. You do not need to be currently taking immersion classes to be eligible for this exam.

Students writing final exams this semester à Refreshments will be available in Student Services during Finals Week and are provided by our School Wellness Team.

All grades à We are hosting our first annual Trades Career Fair Feb 21. Similar to the college event held Sept. 20th, presenters will be giving students information on trades, related education, and opportunities to get started while in high school. Teachers will be signing up their block 2 classes and students on spare or in Bosco at that time are also invited to attend.

All students à Report cards are coming out Feb. 5. Make sure to be taking care of missing assignments and seeing your teachers at Focus if you need help with anything!

Graduating students à We are again hosting the University of Alberta REG 101 sessions March 20 to help you build your schedule. The first runs 3pm – 5pm. The second runs 5pm – 7pm. Both are held in our library and are free of charge. Parents are welcome. Graduating students from other schools are also welcome. Students should have already been given a BearTracks account.
